Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a procedure that involves inserting an artificial valve through a catheter to replace an abnormally functioning one. This is considered an alternative to open aortic valve replacement.

Open Heart Surgery

Open Heart Surgery: When blood supply to the heart's arteries is decreased, there are two methods for treatment: angioplasty and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. CABG surgery involves bypassing the blocked or narrowed area of the coronary artery by creating a branch with a vascular graft.

The aorta is a large artery that connects to the heart's left ventricle and transports filtered blood throughout the body. Aneurysms, atherosclerosis, aortitis, trauma, dissection, and thrombosis can all damage the aorta, making surgery inevitable in some cases.

Endovascular surgery is a non-invasive surgical technique used to treat a variety of diseases such as leg artery stenosis, deep vein thrombosis, aortic aneurysm, fibromuscular and dysplasia, and coronary artery disease.
